ZBrush (originally called SIGGRAPH) was first revealed to the public in 1999 by creators Jack Rimokh and Ofer Alon. It is software that is the number one aid for graphic artists who want to virtually create and sculpt complex and organic forms. Much more so than other similar programs, this software is usually preferred by top artists because it allows for complete creative control. There is even an stage for to put virtual bones in your creation to enable animation. You can then export your creation into game engines if you wish.

Start out with a general shape and then sculpt it however you want. Along the way, you can add stuff like photographs and surface texture. ZBrush’s pixel technology is designed to store information like lighting, color, material, and depth. There are several great Zbrush tutorials of note on the market: All beginners are advised to get Sculptris and Ears For Beginners, both of which serve as a good starter program for beginners who are just getting their feet wet.

The best tutorials for ZBrush for more advanced virtual sculpture artists are Making of Reichskrone, which will guide users in making a medieval, German imperial crown; Making of Cliffside, which will instruct users how to create a fantasy world; and Beast Horn, which will show users how to build a beast horn. Other good tutorials include Making of Artist, which will teach you how to create a cat; Normal Mapping Workflow, which includes 11 videos about normal mapping workflow tutorials for ZBrush; Strokes and Alphas, which teaches users to create Strokes and Alphas; and Making the Captain, which instructs using on everything they need to know about creating The Captain.
